Tutorial 7

Investigate reporting and the Act of Ethics. Case study on a movie, “Never Been Kissed”. In my opinion, I think it is unethical to have a hidden camera that Josie had to always clip on to her in order for the news agency to be able to keep tap and view whatever that was going on. Due to this Josie didn't have much of a choice to write what she felt that was right to talk about but she had her boss to pick for her. Her privacy was invaded, the spark that had been ignited between Josie and her lecturer was revealed.   After witnessing her feelings and the way they both acted around each other, Josie’s boss insisted that she should write up on how a lecturer is hinting on his student. Josie was put in a situation where she was boxed and had to make the right choice in order to safe her job from getting fired and her new found love.

Tutorial 5

1)      Research

Research is a systematic investigation using materials like library’s clippings, online sources, and archive news for facts. There are three purposes why resources provide these materials. Firstly, they are some sort of a lead for the reporters such as to specific themes or questions. Secondly, they offer the reporters with a subject. Thirdly, they give beneficial background to ease the reporters work.

2)      Rapport

When you are planning to interview someone, never dive into the questions directly. Start a friendly conversation such as to praise their office achievements or common conversations to break the ice like talking about the weather. Always remember, play natural and calm instead of reading out your list of questions. Just go with the flow of the conversation and slowly try to fit in the questions. The trust bond should be present between the interviewer and the interviewee in order to avoid the awkward situation of felling threatened or intimidated. As an interviewer be open and not just be focused and getting all your questions answered in case you miss something more important.

3)      Questions

Once your research is conducted formulate a set of questions in order to be more systematic in case of losing any important points that you would want to touch on. There are a few forms of answers that derive from the type of questions asked. Firstly, would be direct question. These questions are related to the theme of your assignment. The answer would usually be elaborated. Secondly, open-ended question is basically searching for opinionated answer. Thirdly, close-ended question is always short but direct answers and last but not least intrusive question. These questions are mostly seeking for private and confidential answers. The replies are always honest.

4)      Listening

A good listener is able to identify good quotes and realize tongue twist. The accent or dialect differentiates one person from another be it a man or women
