Investigate reporting and the Act of Ethics. Case study on a movie, “Never Been Kissed”. In my opinion, I think it is unethical to have a hidden camera that Josie had to always clip on to her in order for the news agency to be able to keep tap and view whatever that was going on. Due to this Josie didn't have much of a choice to write what she felt that was right to talk about but she had her boss to pick for her. Her privacy was invaded, the spark that had been ignited between Josie and her lecturer was revealed.   After witnessing her feelings and the way they both acted around each other, Josie’s boss insisted that she should write up on how a lecturer is hinting on his student. Josie was put in a situation where she was boxed and had to make the right choice in order to safe her job from getting fired and her new found love.

1)      Research

Research is a systematic investigation using materials like library’s clippings, online sources, and archive news for facts. There are three purposes why resources provide these materials. Firstly, they are some sort of a lead for the reporters such as to specific themes or questions. Secondly, they offer the reporters with a subject. Thirdly, they give beneficial background to ease the reporters work.

2)      Rapport

When you are planning to interview someone, never dive into the questions directly. Start a friendly conversation such as to praise their office achievements or common conversations to break the ice like talking about the weather. Always remember, play natural and calm instead of reading out your list of questions. Just go with the flow of the conversation and slowly try to fit in the questions. The trust bond should be present between the interviewer and the interviewee in order to avoid the awkward situation of felling threatened or intimidated. As an interviewer be open and not just be focused and getting all your questions answered in case you miss something more important.

3)      Questions

Once your research is conducted formulate a set of questions in order to be more systematic in case of losing any important points that you would want to touch on. There are a few forms of answers that derive from the type of questions asked. Firstly, would be direct question. These questions are related to the theme of your assignment. The answer would usually be elaborated. Secondly, open-ended question is basically searching for opinionated answer. Thirdly, close-ended question is always short but direct answers and last but not least intrusive question. These questions are mostly seeking for private and confidential answers. The replies are always honest.

4)      Listening

A good listener is able to identify good quotes and realize tongue twist. The accent or dialect differentiates one person from another be it a man or women

The Goodness and Badness of Using Facebook

What is Facebook? Facebook is the most overrated social networking site in this modern era. This site had reached out to many people across the globe and is increasing drastically over time. In every good there is always a bad, likewise it applies the same to Facebook. There are pros and cons to the Facebook users.

The advantages of using Facebook are one is able to connect with many people around the world. This is an opening for us to grab as we are able to learn more about different ethnics and cultures that we are unaware of, just by using Facebook. Moreover, there are many cases as to which Facebook plays a vital part in finding a long lost friend that one has lost contact for a very long time maybe due to a migration. Through Facebook their friendship is reunited again. Furthermore, Facebook is a free medium of communication and people are able to express their taught and feelings. Facebook users are also able to find out information and discuss on current issues that are at heat through this social networking by the post of other people. The productive use of Facebook is that many lecturers nowadays also use Facebook to convey their tutorial questions, exams tips, cancellation of classes or any form of information regarding their lecture or subject to the students via Facebook.

On the other hand, there are disadvantages of Facebook. Despite the goodness of using Facebook, some users get of hand being addicted to Facebook and end up wasting precious time. Time waits for no men; therefore wasting time on Facebook doing things that are unimportant could be a serious matter that needs to be taken into consideration. In addition to that, due to this addiction the grades of students can be misleading because of the hours spent on Facebook and not on education. Furthermore, one of the many fights in most of the relationship occurs because of the Facebook relationship statues. This is highly a sensitive issue when a couple is in a relationship and depends on relationship statues to know if they are still together. Personal information is exposed on Facebook. This could be a threat to ourselves as it makes it easier for us to be the victim of rape or kidnap as our activities are checked in and this gives space for the stalker to conduct his violent act.
In a nutshell, Facebook users can take measures to reduce the disadvantages caused by Facebook. Let Facebook be a beneficial social networking site and not be otherwise.

Life is a game and we need to be slick in getting our decks right. In my opinion, by studying the conversation in the comic, it came to my senses that having to be a journalist is a tough call. There are constantly advantages and disadvantages in the choices we make in life. An individual has to be physically and mentally prepared before taking this job as a life time career. One has to be ready and dedicated to face the challenges and obstacles that come along the way. To be a journalist one has to fulfill the requirements in research and reporting. This also includes producing a news article that requires an inquiring mind, a passion for getting to the extremity of a story and learning every aspect of the particular favored topic. Moreover, being able to cover story that allows you to move into realms you might never have ventured into on your own. It is a fast-paced environment with new challenges and opportunities daily. Furthermore, you need to know exactly what you are getting yourself into. In addition to that, you need to be present at all times where the scene is taking place in order to get a successful cover.

“Why do you threaten us, smash our equipment, put us in jail, torture us and sometimes even kill us”? I believe this falls under the dangerous and risk taking category. Journalist who would bestow their life to get a firsthand story that would rouse the public. They would risk their lives, be it death or injury such as trying to cover a riot, war zone or other violent disturbance. As the second conversation in the comic “you make us look bad” clearly points out that many journalist are being accused for writing on corrupt news or being seen as the nemesis by certain members of the public, whereby their effort on trying to cover sensitive news or events are void. The public fail to see the exertion these journalists have to put themself through just to reveal certain secrets that are unknown to the public and the unprotected life they live in, making enemies along the way and leading their life in danger during this process.

For the program Day Break, I would love to cover the entertainment slot. Entertainment is a booming social requirement. Life is not all about stereotyping, sometimes passive entertainment is a form of escapism. A true fact of life is that the informal meetings play a vital part in an individual’s personal growth.  In this modern age of extreme pressures where everyone is expected to deliver results way beyond their capabilities, one has to have a way of reducing the pressure. Therefore, through entertainment I know I would be able to reach out to many and be a stress antidote. Every human being craves for a bright fresh start of the day, and through this morning program it would be a daily kick start for the audiences. In addition to that, the satisfaction of the viewers would bring up the ratings for the program Day Break.

Putting myself in the shoes of being the host of the Day Break show, I will do coverage about an impending and astonishing concert which would be classified under the entertainment slot.
